The tribal register is a listing of tribal members belonging to 33 hapuu and 67 Marae of Waikato–Tainui.

Registration allows YOU:

  • to identify yourself as a tribal member;
  • access to education and charitable purposes grants distributed by Waikato-Tainui;
  • to have a say. Tribal members 18 years+ can vote on tribal matters;
  • to stand for election to the tribe's parliament, Te Kauhanganui.

Registration allows us to:

  • improve communications to Waikato-Tainui whaanui. Quarterly editions of Te Hookioi and the Annual Report are forwarded to registered addresses;
  • determine Marae grant allocations. Distributed annually, Marae grants are calculated based on the number of tribal members registered against respective Marae;
  • provide opportunities for tribal members to engage with our work; and
  • plan for the future.

To plan for the future, we must have knowledge of our rangatahi - our rangatahi are the future.

Tribal members under 18-years are encouraged to register. Parents or guardians may sign on behalf of minors.
